JCK Celebrates 10 Years In Music

Hip hop artist JCK celebrates 10 years of music with his brand new album The Bees. He has also released the first single from the album to radio, called I Want To Get Next To You.

JCK formed in 2002 as 'JCK and the dirty ho bags'. Back then it was James Castady-Kristament as MC and 3 female back up singer and dancers. That incarnation didn't last long but one of the singers Lou Ludbrook would go on to be the second member of JCK in its second incarnation as a boy/girl duo.

They worked hard writing, recording and playing shows around Auckland City which eventually paid off. In 2004 they caught the attention of respected indie label Pagan/Antenna records and scored a record deal.

Soon after, they were successful in receiving funding from New Zealand On Air and recorded their debut single Freak In The Club with an accompanying music video that took the nation by storm and played on high rotate on C4 and Juice for a long time.

Spirit X was JCK's second single that played on Television in 2009, also receiving tens of thousands of Internet downloads.

JCK's self-titled debut album was popular with Kiwi FM and student radio DJs seeing several songs playlisted and becoming album of the week on Kiwi FM.

In April 2011 C4 and Juice TV picked up JCK's single Cars And Money and 2012 sees the release of JCK's second album The Bees which is available now.
