Some of the most influential media in the US has been raving about the new Brunettes album, including Pitchfork, the New York Times, and the College Music Journal
The Brunettes were also listed on the front page of myspace which resulted in them receiving 40,000 plays per day! This month's Real Groove has a big cover-article on the band and their big album release show in Auckland is almost upon us:
Friday 17th August
The Brunettes with the Ruby Suns, Holiday With Friends, & Brand New Math (feat Chelsea and Brad from Teenwolf)
The King's Arms, Newton, Auckland
The Ruby Suns
The Ruby Suns have had a hectic couple of weeks doing shows with the Shins across Australasia that saw them playing to sold-out crowds every night (over six dates in Aus alone, they played to 14,000 people). Ryan was kept busy doing phone interviews with press and visiting the local indie radio stations. So far, reviews have been very positive with even the hard-to-please Rolling Stone (Aus edition) saying of the band: "That this New Zealand five-piece landed the support for the Shins' current Australian tour says more about the quality of this album than the U.S. pop connections of bandleader ... Ryan McPhun."
The Ruby Suns are also on the shortlist to win $17,000 from BurgerFuel music promotion.
