Tangata
Tangata Records is an independent record company specialising in artist development and promotion of Aotearoa recording artists.
Tangata Records has been releasing Maori recordings since 1991. Tangata have released numerous albums, compilations and singles (in English and Maori) and produced over 40 Maori music videos including award winning clips for Emma Paki and Dam Native.
The current active roster includes Ruia (Winner NZ Music Awards Best Maori Album 2004 and APRA Maori Songwriter of the Year 2004) and Moana Maniapoto (Winner International Songwriter of the Year 2003) and more recent signings Piripi Christie and Waitahanui Vivala Crew.
Tangata provides management services for various artists and projects, a recent highlight co-ordinating at the 2004 Olympics in . Tangata is a member of APRA, MMIC and INDIES industry associations.
